solo journey?
Solo Journey?
I had two conversations yesterday.
One, with a woman who happened to take a solo trip because her fiancé couldn’t go at the last minute, and another who said she thought she could never, ever travel solo.
The first texted me a photo of a beach, sharing that she “happened” upon a solo journey. [She’s a friend and knows I love solo travel.]
I think it’s awesome that she took the time for herself and went ahead with the plans.
She later sent another photo with the sunset behind her and a light spot that happened to land right on her chest, near her heart.
I shared that when I’m on a solo journey and there is a light spot in a photo, I always feel like it’s my mom who has passed. Kind of like she’s waving. Or blowing a kiss. I know it’s technically “just” a light spot, but it makes me feel good.
She liked that and said it felt like it might have been a nod from a loved one who passed...that she had felt their presence.
Whatever it was, or whomever it was- I asked her the question...” would you have had noticed that light detail if you were with other people?”
“Would you have let your mind think about that sunspot in a way that touched you or reminded you of something if you were always in conversation?”
This is the gift that I wish I could share with the woman who is afraid to travel alone.
The breath.
Space and time to let your mind think or feel things you might not when you are surrounded by other people, schedules, or others’ attention.
Would you take a solo journey?
