time
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about time.
Time in terms of how we live our life.
How we spend our time.
The big moments and the small.
Or when things reveal themselves to us...
Thinking back to my first solo trip,
I was so excited to finally get to Bryce Canyon, that I didn’t plan for how much time it would take me to get through.
[You hike down into the canyon- then back up...]
I drove several hours from my previous spot, so I ended up starting my hike around 2:00 pm.
Well, let’s just say- around 4:30, panic started to set in. That sun was setting.
I didn’t know how much longer it would take me to get out of the canyon.
I picked up the pace, found some other people, and studied the trails, trying to find a way out that would get me out before dark.
I did. By the skin of my teeth.
[Since then, I’ve been very aware of how I map my trips out]
Unrelated- but totally related... @jesseitzler said something that really hit me- he said, “How you do anything is how you do everything.”
At that time in Bryce, much of my life consisted of me not being present. And it was within everything I did.
I was going to and fro- but a lot of the time, I was just going through the motions.
I have thought about Jesse’s quote every day since I heard it about a month ago. It came into my life at the right time for me to hear it.
I want to be here- to be fully present.
And- plan for time to enjoy that present moment.
Cuz the sun will go down.
